I say if we can get him it would be a great decision. Mavs are limited on athleticism and adding one of the leagues best athletes for a player that never played wouldnt be too bad of a deal for us. The only thing I'm concerned about is moving J-Ho to shooting guard. He is very good at driving to the basket and defense but isnt the best shooter. That would limit us behind the 3 point line. What do yall think?

First let me say that once a player has become a maverick it's hard to see them go. For me, I think a Damp is great for defensive coverages on someone like a Shaq but this team needs something more. Right now i see us keeping him until the all stars and possibly working something out then.
yes we landed marion i love this guy he has a funny shot but it goes in he is one of the most athletic players in the league if not the most he runs the floor something we need and most importantly plays defense we are going to have a stacked team starters are going to be kidd howard marion dirk gortat bench dampier bass terry hollins bobois carrol we will match up with anybody in the NBA even the lakers dirk on gasol gortat on bynum who is better than him howard on artest marion on kobe kidd and terry on fish its over championship

this is great news. i'm sure we all remember how good marion was when he played with a great point guard like steve nash, well kidd will bring out the best in him they will be great together, and with the addition of gortat it's a much needed big man on defense, we just improved on offense and defense, i'm so excited for next year, someone get me a matrix jersey

i agree with DT we need a little more speed under the bucket and the versatility of the new players we are picking up should meet those needs for sure. The Matrix is a force and always has been a challenge for us, he gave the Suns a lot of different options as he was able to be a threat from various areas on the court with his killer shot and ability to play off the ball as well. I really look forward to seeing just what the Matrix brings to Dallas along with Gortat and of course our ever so popular favs already here in Dallas. I think the movement of players really put some air into the roster that we needed even though I will miss seeing those faces in our colors. That is the strangest thing, seeing a player you love in an opposing jersey, you want them to do well but then again you want them to lose...

Stop for a second, think of how you felt the first time you saw Devin Harris play after he left the Mavs.Think of how you felt the first time you saw Sports Center and Devins numbers,or how you felt when Devin made the All-Star team.We re about to experiance the same thing with Brandon Bass if Cuban lets him walk. Cuban is a great business man...obviously. He's a billionaire. But he's a terrible basketball mind. He s basically trading Bass for Marion. IT IS NOT A GOOD MOVE!!! Dont lose your young talent for over the hill costly vets....unless...unless...your right on the thresh hold of winning a championship with those veteran additions.Im sure theres some people there thinking just the opposite, but just stay tuned......and remember how you felt.

I didnt feel bad at all when i saw Devins numbers and him making the all star team. You know why? All he did for his team was make them les than .500. We couldnt do anything about bass. He was a non restricted free agent. Mavs made the best offer possible considering the cap space, but Orlando made a better one. Id say a great 4 time all star STARTING small forward is better than a great back up power forward. Especially since we already have Dirk. What do you want Mark Cuban to do? Keep the same team just so we can have another 50 win season. The goal is to win a championship dude. Not keep it safe and see how many 50 win seasons we can have in a row. I love bass and have nothing but respect for him. But Shawn Marion is definately more valuble for what the mavs need.

I guarantee the first thing you felt wasnt that Devins team was a .500 team, if you did it was simply as a consolation. I thought that your reply had some strong points, but theres a flip side to every coin. So i gotta ask ...why couldnt Cuban resign Bass? Kidd is worth the the 35 mill,(i believe thats how much it was),that Cuban gave him.......right? Gortat WAS worth the full mid level exeption Cuban gave him ....wasnt he??? Heres that flip side of the coin. A few years back Cuban gave Eric Dampier 65 million reasons to sign as a free agent from Golden State. Nuff said on that. Cuban believed that Steve Nash was on the decline because he was approaching 30....he let him walk. 2 MVPs later..nuff said on that too. Most recently he traded Devin Harris for Kidd...Harris became an all star immediately without the reins of Avery Johnson.Kidd while respectable..frequently was outplayed by the younger PGs of the western conference. Parker,Paul,Williams,Ellis,etc...Based off the previously mentioned i truly believe Cuban paniced. He didnt wanna let another guard walk...so he paid Kidd. Its my opinion that keeping Bass was important enough to hold on to some of the cash that went to Gortat and Kidd. Gortat has proved nothing in the NBA. Championship teams have to have a physical LOW POST presence that has an ability to get high percentage shots close to the basket. Bass had that ability. Dirk doesnt...Marion doesnt...and who knows about Gortat.Your right...the goal is to win titles, and Marion WAS an all-star...WAS. He doesnt give the Mavs a low post reliability that Bass could grow to be. Jump shooting teams dont win championships....ever. The Mavs have been one for years.... sorry. I grew up around D-Town, the Mavs are my favorite team from any sport. However, there not built right and adding Marion didnt fix the problem. They say that the first step in solving a problem is admitting that you have one....Cuban?

The difference between Devin Harris and Jason Kidd is that Kidd is a true point guard. He distibutes the ball to all of his team mates and prefers the pass over the shot. Look how much Dirk and Terry's numbers improved once we replaced Devin with Kidd. Kidd dosnt get the stats but his leadership and ability to make everyone else around him better is more valuble than a PG that gets good stats but cant make his team better. Theres more to putting a team together than making the all star team and getting MVP votes. Steve Nash fit in well with the suns because they are a run and gun team, which happened to miss playoffs even with staudemire and shaq. Mavs used to be a run and gun team when they had nash, But nash cant play defense. That is why they got rid of him. I love brandon bass and i wish we could have re signed him. But we cant for the same reasons Orlando cant resign Gortat. Nowitzki is the best power forward in the league. It would be ridiculous for the mavs to give as much money to bass(as a backup) that the magic offered. Same goes for Gortat. The magic have the best center in the league. Why would they give that much money to a backup Center. Magic need a good starting power forward. So thats why they offered him as much money as they did. Mavs also need a good center. Thats why we offered as much money to gortat as we did. Bass is more useful in their line up. And Gortat is more useful in our lineup. Its kind of an unofficial trade. As much as I respect Brandon Bass, he wont make the all star team. You have to put in consideration he is competing in the Eastern conference with Kevin Garnett, Danny Granger, Chris Bosh, and Josh Smith. And that isnt even including the small forwards. We cant keep the same lineup as last year. Changes had to be made in order to reach our ultimate goal, which is to win a championship. We needed to improve our starting lineup and add depth to the bench. Which is exactly what we did. Tell me this lineup doesnt look like a cahmionship team.....

PG) Kidd/Barrea/ Roddy B.
SG) Howard/Terry/Ross
SF) Marion/Howard/
PF)Dirk/humphries/nivins
C)Gortat/Damp/Jawai
And if we trade damp we can get even better....
I know I put J-Ho twice, but we can play small if both marion and him need a rest because we have 3 quality shooting guards.

Gortat is better than what u think but for the doubters I looked up a couple vids on youtube for u...
